The controls were never going to be good. It's impossible with just a tiny touch screen. It's something that would only work on a handheld like DS or PSP, where your thumbs aren't all over what is going on!
It's a real shame, because I love ROTT. I'm not going to say it's better than Doom, but I found ROTT to be more fun. It never took itself too seriously. Anyone who played it thoroughly will know about "I'm free!", Scott's mystical head, the Bonus Bonus and many of secrets and easter eggs.

Jesus, they really need to do something about the controls. The game itself is great, but it's impossible to play these ports.
