Awesome classic Brazilian Jiujitsu match between 2 BJJ legends: the legendary Jean Jacques Machado versus the fierce Wallid Ismail.

- Jean Jacques Machado is one of the five Machado brothers, including Carlos, Roger, Rigan and John, renowned for their Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) skills. Nephews of BJJ co-founder and Master Carlos Gracie, the brothers learned the martial art from an early age.

"Champion" is a relative concept and quite possibly te most overused term in martial arts. But if there is one man who deserves that title on many different levels, it's Jean Jacques Machado.

Machado was born with a malformed left hand and since he was a member of a very athletic and famous family his mother was really concerned and afraid that Jean Jacques will not be able to keep up with his brothers and cousins and would never be accepted as part of the family. But Carlos Gracie (his uncle and Cofounder-master of Brazilian Jiujitsu) had no such concerns, he picked up a months old Machado baby with one hand lifted him on the air while he told his mother "Dont worry, someday he will become a champion." There exists a very famous picture of this precise moment (published in November 2004 issue of Grappling Magazine).

Machado is known for his grappling skills having won ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championships in his weight division plus a runner up in the open division in 2001.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Jean Jacques began his Jiu-Jitsu training over twenty years ago. He dominated the competitive arena of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in his native country, capturing every major title and competition award from 1982 through 1992.

In 1992 Jean Jacques arrived in the United States to continue his competitive success. Dominating the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu scene both in the US and in international competition, Jean Jacques is one of the most admired and respected Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners in the world today. its true. the reason iu jitsu is 'boring' in mma, is because they have to take extreme caution when strikes are allowed

  • @ihavetheherpes ya but it is much harder to do getting punched in the face

  • people need to be this active on the ground in mma. then they wouldn't get stood up so much and you wouldn't hear as much hate from some of the more ignorant fight fans.

  • I just met Jean Jacques at hist tournament yesterday.

  • Sick both greats.

  • bah meteram a mão no rola do wallid!

  • wallid perdeu by garfaition

  • Amazing match.

JJ Machado is top 3 best BJJ player I've ever seen. He's incredible, and remember, he is always fighting with a handicap.

  • ╭∩╮(︶_︶)╭∩╮ Porra mano o Wallid foi garfado!
