Raccoons Trapped In Basement (LQ)

I was awoken at 6am to what I thought was the younger of our two cats whimpering. I even stood there staring at him trying to figure out what was wrong. Once the haze left my eyes I noticed it was not him and quickly realized it was from the vent next to him. God knows how they got into the basement, or better still, how one got into vent and why. I guess they couldn't get back out however they got in, which is odd for a critter who is usually smarter than that. As for the frog, there was a couple hopping around. They somehow swim under the house and come in through the area for the sub pump. Only thing I can think of is that the pond a couple hundred feet away connects to an underground water bed.
