  • @PennyOz is not an honor..the idiot of bono said that a-ha was allways stolen from them and beacuse of that he copy the "teach me" ...i cant consider an honor that a simple comercial band copy something from an original one and make it of their property!

  • @jdohe

Beautiful Day and The Sun Always Shines On TV aren't even that similar. Bono used the words "touch me" but other than that all of the other words are different, the chords are different, the song is in a different key, and there's different instrumentation. I love both songs. This was a neat tribute.

  • also the aha song Hunting high and low souds like the song And i love her from the beatles, and is not plagiarism

  • @jdohe

What a load of tosh - glad you witnessed it all, though.

Being inspired by other groups is not plagiarism.

    Zip

  • @RATio77 I didn't mention Hunting High And Low at all. I don't have any idea where he came up with that song from. I do know that his technique of composing involves ripping bits from other artists and pasting them together. I have personally witnessed him combining some Beatles tracks with an obscure "enya-like" singer's vocals. Also.. song writing isn't rocket science...

  • @jdohe are you saying that e.g. hunting high and low is not an original Pal Waaktaar song? I wouls like to see you coming up with some kind of proof, would be an interesting one...

However, almost every songwriter "steals" bits from other songs occasionally. U2 do it and Pal did it as well, not as much as U2 though and by far not as muc as many well known other "artists". But Pal at least has persoanlity, his own style as a songwriter and at least some original songs.

  • U2 DID steal Beautiful Day from a-ha's Sun Always Shines - HOWEVER, U2 got away with it because Pal Waaktaar of a-ha routinely steals bits of songs (often the Beatles) for his own music! I once witnessed Pal doing this. What he does is blends bits of the Beatles with obscure New Age artists. Pal's compositions are NOT original, which is why he can't sue U2 for stealing his song. Bono is not stupid, he knows a-ha stole the music, so they couldn't sue him. Robbing from the robbers.

  • I agree with Bono ELANUR9, that A-HA is indeed the most underrated band ever!

But, regardless, no matter how Bono or anyone else wants to look at it... unless he got A-HA's permission to use that verse in their song (& I don't know whether he did or didn't or if they even gave A-HA credit on that song) but, if they didn't.. that is plagiarism, copyright infringement (knowing or not knowing is no excuse) but apparently Bono knew, because he said he had A-Ha's song on his mind when he wrote it!

  • I envy!

    so neautifull
