Classical Quartet Music: Årstiderne/Seasons, part 14, winter part I

The composition "Seasons" can be played by most amateur musicians with Violins (or transverse flutes), Bb-Clarinets,
Cello(or Bassoon) and Piano. Most of the movements are written I Bb-major, few in Eb-major and C-major (for the sake of the Cello - which is my own instrument :-)

Season is suitable for amateur musicians playing together and as exercise material in music schools. The instrumentation can be varied for: Clarinet-Clarinet-Cello-Piano and Clarinet-Violin-Cello-Piano or Violin-Clarinet-Cello-Piano and Violin-Violin-Cello-Piano. Further violins may double Clarinets. Finally Violins may be replaced by transverse Flutes and the Cello be replaced by a Bassoon. The composed music has been thoroughly played, evaluated and discussed among my quartet players (one is a professional clarinetist) and adjusted several times in order to obtain my musical intentions.

It is unique that the first and second voice may choose between Violin/Flute and Bb-Clarinet and therefore there are 6 voices for all the 15 movements, which are quartets. Besides the 15 quartets there is a special movement, which is a cello-solo.

The movements were composed over ten years (1995-2004) for two Violins, two Bb-Clarinets, Cello and Piano because my own quartet was short of printed music for that particular instrumentation.

The 3 Christmas movements are sold separately: Christmas Suite - quartet: a complete composition and also with 6 voices for the musicians.
The music suite Seasons consists of fifteen movements for Violin, Bb-Clarinet, Cello and Piano. Furthermore
a Cello solo: part 8: Indian Summer II B. Each of all six instrumental parts is printed in separate parts:
Violin 1, Violin 2, Clarinet 1, Clarinet 2, Cello and Piano.
The music is also available in print as a complete composition (partiturhæfte) in 65 pages. There is also a complete score for Christmas Suite - quartets.
