I LOVE THIS FUCKING SONG WITH all my heart. I was just two years into playing guitar, completely blinded by the awe of the 'dream', wanting to play gigs. One day my buddy shows me this song in his living room (knowing I'm into oldschool thrash and all kinds of crap). Pure gold poured through the speakers. Flowy, dark heavy liquid FUCKING vagina seeping through. Then Cornell starts belting and my buddy overlaps his voice by belting his, I was in shock. Obsessed fan since.

Why are you questioning my relationship to the song? Sure, the song was inspired by an acid trip, but what Chris sings in the song is dark and genuine. I can relate to that feeling, and the lyrics are abstract.

I don't see much of a connection.

Cornell has said the following about this song several times: "This song is about being on acid and having 2 cop cars pull up next to you with their lights flashing..."

I suppose there is a bit of powerlessness? Just not quite the same as you described.

The shooting that involved an adult killing twenty children. I heard it once on the news, turned off the T.V. and just contemplated if one of those children were my child, and how I would be dropping them off for the last time in the morning. Those children experienced something I could never come to terms with.
