Yes, indeed. And Americans have the SR-71, the F-4, 14, 15, 16, 22, 35, 117, the B-2, and the mighty, mighty Saturn V. We mourn the demise of Concorde - by far the coolest commercial passenger plane ever made. It is unfortunate a much larger version could not be made. The F-35 even has Russian design in it. In the early 90's, Yakovlev Aircraft Co. made a deal with Lockheed Martin: enough money for Yakovlev to avoid bankruptcy in return for the plans for their YAK-141 supersonic VTOL jet. Shortly after that, Lockheed Martin unveiled the X-35 JSF. Coincidence?

In the 60s, us Brits were know for being leaders in aerospace, automotive, motorcycles and many other industries.
