Shame i didn't have a professional crew document these 3 days of recording Al's 3rd Blue Note album. All i can say is that i'm a producer on a mission. and that mission is to make the follow up album to 1977's The Belle Album. Al's last great masterpiece. Sonically i wanted to take him back to the raw elements the make a classic Al record. no synths, no crunk, no snap, no cameos, just raw breakbeat drums, a bass, an organ, a guitar, and AL.

Been watching that vid in amazement since years... I come to label that the "soul detector". If a musician doesn't get the greatness of this, he ain't got soul, simple as that. You nailed that Al Jackson gunshot backbeat... plus that album was incredible. Mad props !

?uestlove usually plays to a double time 'polka' rhythm (which he likes to call it) click while he's tracking drums - my guess is just like the Voodoo album, he's prolly doing it here as well..
