Firefighter widow in gender case, Nikki Araguz, barred from benefits

A judge Friday agreed to temporarily bar the allegedly transgendered widow of a Wharton firefighter from spending or collecting his death benefits.

State District Judge Randy Clapp ruled after hearing from Nikki Araguz that she received a check for $60,000 on Thursday, about a 10th of the total cash expected because of Thomas Araguz's July 4 death in an egg farm inferno.
The firefighter's parents have filed a lawsuit alleging that the marriage is void because Nikki Araguz was born a man.

Their attorney, Chad Ellis, said family members got what they wanted in Friday's hearing and expect to go forward.

"Nikki Araguz is someone who has conned people her entire life," said Ellis, an attorney for Simone Araguz, the firefighter's mother. "We are getting daily reports that Tommy Araguz was not the first person who this has happened to. She has deceived other men into thinking that she was born a woman."

whats failed to be mentioned here is that we recognize Nikki states he knew of her TG state, documents were presented to him in April, he soon seperated from her and told family/friends he did not know and was upset/ashamed...this is why the family is asking she not recieve benfits. I tried explaining this on another vid and was banned. All FACTS must be stated..this isnt as open/shut case/discrimination as it sounds

@cypresso56 cant we post facts without sarcasm? why all the balckballing? this is being put out there and misinformation isnt given. Just like the FACT that Nikki went to the Wharton County Courthouse-emplyee witness- on 6/24 asking how much it cost to file for a divorce and demanded the mans truck and guns the day after his burial from his family-nikki admits-. Interesting case, im all for equality but every fact should be looked at b4 making her, specifically the posterlady for TG equality.

i think that's messed up that they put mrs. araguz's buisness out there the way they did, regardless of what gender she is... i think that his ex wife and mom are just doing this out of greed , what a way to show there passing son how much they love him by arieing his buisness out there the way they did, they should just let the man rest in peace, i feel so sorry for his chirldren and his wife!!! imagine what they have to go through now because of all this i hope mrs araguz can get through this,

@jtexas23 I full agree with all you express. It is a bad situation, no doubt. I am left to wonder what ridicule the kids will face when school starts back up. Other kids can really be mean upon hearing of all of this.

What a sad, tragic case. Poor Ms. Araguz. I hope things get resolved quickly and FAIRLY in her favor. This is just horrible. My heart goes out to her.
