Olmec Heads Part 5

The Olmec civilization in Mexico sculpted massive stone heads 3000 years ago — 500 years before Rome was founded. These statues weighed up to 40 tonnes and were made from stone that came from the Tuxtla mountains more than 160 kilometres away. The journey would have taken the Olmecs across great rivers and virtually impassable swamps. How did they manage that?

  • i'm wondering if there's a possibility that the stones are not moved by human. they could be moved by tide, or they are fragments of a meteorite. They landed there by nature, and then human crafted on it.

  • Lazy as white guy lol hired mexicans to try finish the job typical, reminds me of america, lol.

  • So the little success he had was getting the anchor stable and that was only because the head leader suggested a different technique when the Bob was going to call it quits. For the most part Bob just stands around when he knows they can use as much man power as they can. Bob you suck!

  • Bob sucks!

  • @maximusTLP a moron and his followers

  • Perhaps it took a long time and there were 20+ Olmecs working on each head?

  • Hold it! Did the Olmecs have access to perfectly-sawn bamboo lengths and rope of that quality?

  • Firstly, if you want to do, you'll need better team leaders than tweedle dum and tweedle dee. One guy's shorts and shirt are so tight that one wonders if he was cruising in the jungle; the other guy, the sculptor, is so out of shape that it's amazing enough he didn't have a heart attack the first day.
