Excellent Master.

Not that I don't believe you, but can you give me any sources?? I'd like to find out more...

The large man in the blue shirt who Chen Bing throws around weighs in excess of 260 lbs.; he is STILL out with serious knee and back injuries, as he wanted to go all out w/ Chen Bing . Chen Bing weighs 145 lbs. Ask those guys in The Cage about Tai Chi's effectiveness.

For all of those who have never seen tai chi applied in an mma situation, I invite you to view both of these youtube vids: Master Chen Bing's Push Hand 1 & Master Chen Bing's Push Hand 2. They are footage of him giving a seminar to mma fighters at "the Cage" in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

This guy is the real Mccoy!

The guy seems like a real deal, but the last two students students are basically just leaning themselves out of balance before he even applies a technique. That's a shame.

FamilyQuan, just exactly how do you know this was fake? Have you ever even tried to push hand with a real life taiji expert? I did. Many times. And I got thrown to the ground way too many times not to know better. It ain't fake, I can tell you that. You don't believe me? Come to Houston and stop by either Master Cheng Jincai's school or Shaolin Temple (master Shi De Shan) and challenge them to a push hand contest.

sdawson222, your argument is old and full of ignorance. Really. MMA gives you a good start and that's it. Pretty much a jack of all trade, a master of none. A Karate expert or kungfu masteer cannot compete in UFC at all because they would be fighting with their hands and feet tied up. Why don't YOU bring your ignorant self to these martial schools and challenge them? To put something that lasts for thousands of years down is just plain STUPID.

What is cage 99? Some scrub league? No real martial artists would just attack someone. I am glad that guy whoever he was lost. Burst internal organs? How do you know that would happen? Nothing can be done without practice and I doubt bursting organs is practiced. I do not believe you. Jiu-jitsu has been proven to work you must admitt that. This stuff hasn't. That is lame to say it is not used in mma because it would burst someone's organs. It is not used because it doesn't work.
That's because you haven't been looking. China was the dominant military power in its region for nearly 2,000 years, these arts come originally from that time, and have been preserved mostly in clans and villages. There's plenty of fighting and testing goes on in that context, but you don't hear about it. Again, there is nothing new about anything being done in MMA - the Chinese had "open platform" competitions right up to the Communist period, in which styles like Taiji came out on top.

There are four basic categories in combat as seen through the Chinese Martial Arts: Ti (kicking), Da (striking), Shuai (grappling, wrestling, or throwing), and Na (seizing and locking). Chen Style Taijiquan encompasses all of these in its curriculum. What is shown in this video is only a very small aspect of the training. Push hands is not combat, but it trains the elements of combat. These elements being balance, sensitivity, rooting, fluidity, etc.
