The SkokieNet Teen Volunteers interview Site Director Lillian Gerstner on the plans for the new Holocaust Museum in Skokie. The new museum is scheduled to open in November of 2008.
@BarackObamaBlackMan Your an idiot. Black people are ALWAYS complaining about slavery. You Blacks weren't the only one that went through troubles in the United States. I'm sure that there is a Civil War Museum that you can go to and be grateful that some white people actually decided to stand up for you guys.
over 90 million Africans were killed while being brought on slaveships to america?
And what about all of the Blacks killed in lynchings in the Negro Holocaust in almost every state in America? Are white Jews the only ones who we memorialize?
This is a continuation of racism that is ongoing, telling Blacks to forget their
suffering while white suffering needs to be enshrined and taught to children of all races. Sad.
In washington D.C they have a statue for the 100 million people who lost their lives to Communism in Russia at the hands of the Soviet Union.. just round the corner a multi-million pound museum to the Holocaust.
The imbalance is scary.

Because the Holocaust has been abused by American, Jewish and non-Jews alike. It has used as a strategic weapon of power as and when it is needed. Interestingly the Holocaust museums started popping up in America since 96, over 50 years after the Holocaust took place, it is much more connected to what is gong on in Palestine, Isreal, Iraq and of course, beloved Oil, than it is about a true sentiment of remembrance for the atrocities that happened in WW2.
Why do all major US cities have museums for the jewish Holocaust, an event that took place in Europe and in which US had no role other than to put an end to it, while we have no such memorials to the genocide of the Indians or the enslavement of Africans, two events which took place here and which the US is responsible for?

No doubt. A clear statement about who has power in the USA -- blacks and native peoples -- no; Jews -- yes
