STYLE WARS http://www.stylewars.com is the original Hip Hop documentary. Public Art Films is embarking on a project to restore Style Wars. The original negative was damaged during the many years it was in storage.

Style Wars Restoration Donors will receive the following Thank You gifts:
$10 - your donor name or tag included in the Donor Credit section of the disc.
$50 - Styles Wars 2-Disc Set DVD and the BluRay Disc*, a personalized document that memorializes your participation, and in the new BluRay your name will be in the final film credits.
$100 - All the above, plus a Special Limited Edition Deluxe Poster designed by a Graf Legend.
$250 - All the above, plus a special Exclusive T-shirt designed by a Graf King created solely for $250 donors, and an original signed and numbered photo of a subway masterpiece from Henry Chalfant's archive.
$1000 - All the above, plus a signed and numbered original print by a graffiti legend.

*BluRay Disc will be sent one month before the normal release date.

Public Art Films, Inc is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to producing films and videos about grass-roots cultural expressions. All donations are tax-deductible.

We will be transferring the original 16 mm negative into full HD 1080p while cleaning and restoring the film during the process. The HD master will be better, sharper and more brilliant than the original. Style Wars was originally produced with public funding and we ask the public again to propel this historic document into the new era.

I wasn´t there when it started cause i´m too young and from germany, but as far as i read, graffiti was started by people of different race, blacks, hispanics and whites. In Rap music, it was different. This first was started only by blacks.

But the hip hop movement, in essence, encompasses all races, religions, cultures, etc. The hip hop movement in the 70s and 80s was all about creating a new society apart from the traditional American society, a society where everyone was truly equal. That's why today it's so sad to see these new kats come up and think it's all about niggas gettin' paid and gettin laid, cus it ain't.
