Five Themes of Geograpy - Location (Absolute Location)
I sing this music video to the Beatles' Across the Universe. Absolute location refers to an exact point on the globe. In order to navigate to or to even indicate a point on the globe, man devised a system of imaginary lines. The equator is an imaginary line that man draws horizontally across the globe equidistant between the North and South pole. The Prime Meridian is the imaginary line that man draws vertically through the earth mid way between the East and West. Man draws lines parallel to the equator; these lines are called latitude. Man draws lines parallel to the Prime Meridian; these are called longitude. These lines act as a measuring system. As you move from one point one the earth to another, your longitude and latitude change.See my teaching blog mrsstovall.skyline.blogspot.com
