America Goes Bananaz

The one that started it all! A highlights clip from the 1979 kids show on Time-Warner cable. This show was the forerunner of ABC's "Kids are People Too" Before Nickelodeon, there was Qube TV and Bananaz! Broadcast from Columbus, Ohio. Amoung the kids who made good, was Musician Gussie Miller was a member of the Bananaz gang. Show executive producer was TV legend Burt Dubrow.

Holy cow this is painful, but fun at the same time. Some if not all of these started at the old Fort Hayes complex Radio and TV building as I recall. Maybe I'm remembering that wrong but I know the school had a large involvement in the shooting of it at one point. I was a member of the Radio and TV class there in the first 2 years of it's operation. Ya, that is Bobby Boggs on the cowbell! I was in this clip (front row, next to Randy in the yellow shirt...). Those were some fun shows! I think we did 150-ish episodes. I'm so glad you posted this, Gus...can't believe it was 30 years ago! Peg Manzer
