We always used to have our own Oscar pre-show and every year we would watch our favorite moments captured on VHS tapes, inserting and ejecting many tapes. The day of the "The Prince of Tides" Oscar Party, John Hanrahan, who was very high tech, hooked up two VCRs, sat very close to the television ("Just like Nancy Kerrigan's mother") and edited all of the clips together, to debut that night.
