A 'charming' little kit not without it's quirks, but as a short-run, mixed-media release(resin/vacform/photo-etch), it was a challenging (ie poor fit, coke-bottle-thick decals), but fun build. Not perfect by a long shot, but fun.

  • Nicely painted, what did you use for the panels? Where did you get it from ? must have been hard with all that filler

  • @thehjupo I just used my usual Tamiya or Gunze acrylics for the paintwork, but because this is what is known as a 'short run' kit, meaning you can expect a bit of work to get the pieces to fit, although they may have fantastic surface detail. I got it online from modelhobbies.

  • awesome build! is this paint scheme reaL?

  • @ModellMeister Thank you. No, the three paint schemes for this little fellow are 'What ifs' as the plane never entered service, although I do believe the scheme I chose is based on an actual combat scheme!

  • Good job. Very clever what you did with the wings and what a nice paint scheme, congratulations!

  • @PlasticoForEvah Thank you! She was a tough little bugger, but I think I cracked her in the end.... just!

  • nice color the airplane has, really cool

  • @wolf6500 Thank you! Tough little kit to get to grips with, but kinda got there in the end! :)

  • great job!!!

  • @tankman13p66 Thanks! Yup, those decals are incredibly thick. Because the Japanese Hinamaru roundel is about as simple as you can get, I even thought about making a mask and spraying them on, but went with the decals anyway. The problem with them was that because of their thickness, no amount of microset setting solution was going to make the bed into the panel lines and they refused to take the weathering pigment also. I've since cut them where the wing flaps are and that's helped! A little! :)
