Anti-gay speech by Imam from "World Trade Center" Mosque (1-27-11)

Whie the comments are homophobic and ignorant, I agree with the gay Muslim man. It's rather mild compared to some of the things I've heard from other Muslim clerics. At least this Imam is not blaming gays, instead claiming that they're victims. Indeed, his comments aren't so much religious or Islamic, but rather misguided psychobabble. And it wasn't so long ago that American psychotherapists felt the same way. Many still do.

Interestingly, many of the people against building an Islamic center near Ground Zero are conservative, and likely homophobic. It'll be interesting to see how they react to this Imam's homophobia. Will any of them use it to argue against building the Islamic center?

Every religion, and people, and individual, segregates based on their own beliefs and preferences. As any church or mosque is it's own group, with its own beliefs, if you don't like their opinions, you simply don't join. This is a non story, whipped up by the media to create news. If a local minister said the same stuff, we wouldn't be hearing about it on the 6 o'clock news.
