Here's a short walkthrough on how I fletch my arrows with duct tape. It's quick, it's easy, and it's easy to repair in the field...which is what I'm doing right here!

  • are you able to use these type of fletching on a compound bow???

  • @1981rprieto That is an excellent question. I would imagine so, but I don't have a compound bow to test it on.

  • You very well could, especially if you wanted them to be rounded. I've found that I can get them nearly identical with this method, but I like your idea...I never thought of that. I'll have to try it out, especially with my hunting arrows.

  • hi nice stuff i tried this with my 50lbs longbow ,i used 9mm pine dowling from the handyman shop.30"long.i used 5" by3/4"duct tape fletching and a 2"copper pipe fitted to the tip flatend and made to a point.the problem is the back end of the arrows they are wiggling around like a eel, the front more or less travel straight.i tried wider fletching it made it worse any suggestions.could it be the heads too heavy too light im stuck now maybe wider dowling the next size up is 12mm.what causes this

  • @1000000volts My first guess would be that the spine of the arrow is not stiff enough. If you're not familiar with the term spine, it's basically the stiffness of the arrow. I would try switching to oak dowels and see if that fixes your problem. If you don't have oak available then a thicker pine dowel might work, but your arrow will be significantly heavier.

  • do you have a video on arrow tips?

  • @MrMatterson1 Boring means more detail. I like boring.

  • @1981rprieto The fletching may work, but according to dave with the pathfinder school, a self made dowl arrow will splinter and break if used in combination with a compound bow.

  • That is a work of art sir. Red Green would be proud.

  • @1981rprieto Fletching yup, but the wood will break.

  • couldn't you use a templat 2 make shure your fletchings are all the same

  • @RyanMatthewHill funny enough, I got these at home depot. I wouldn't use poplar on a heavy draw weight bow, it's not quite rigid enough.
