Clapton is right when he says that he can't play it completely right. Robert Johnson's finger style was just more technical. RJ didn't always just hit open strings for the bass lines, he does a little more complex bass patterns.

@Lindsay189037 well actually its not all about physical effort nor years, but they are something. it is a question of everything together, what you learn, listen to, along with life experience of course. all of these things are mixed to produce who we are and what we do, and this mixing process counts in too as a factor.

@Madakhaled It's not a question of physical effort but of emotional maturity that is conveyed in the playing. Not a question of years either. Emotional maturity comes through life's experiences and how one approaches / deals with them.

Sessions for Robert J is by far and away my favorite album by Clapton.

@dano555666 Firstly you're an idiot. Secondly maybe if you knew about music and weren't just spouting some generic ass bands you'd have heard of some good american bands by now. Not to say the bands you brought up are bad, you're opinion is just very narrow minded.

@VictorPRGP The video was shot in the actual hotel room Johnson recorded in. (In San Antonio I think)

@dano555666 Ever hear of Robert Johnson? You should look him up. He's an American.
I wonder if Eric Clapton has ever heard of ROBERT FUCKING JOHNSON THE AMERICAN.
-
Why is it that every time I think of an amazing musician or band, they're british?
Like, really. Who is American and truly awesome? Even stuff post 70's, Joy Division, The Cure, Depeche Mode, The Clash....it goes on and on.
Britain just seems to deliver.
