  • Thanks for the video, Those Enphase inverters don't sound all that bad when you consider I paid $200. for my morningstar MPPT controller. Hopefully the price will come down as they start selling more. Do they have any protection built in if they get excessive voltage to protect them. I already fried one 250 watt Sun GTI that I had on a wind turbine when voltage spiked.

  • @wiboater4 Hey I am not sure of the protection on them. You may have read my other comment but when I called to see if my panels would work the inverters were 165.00 each. The next day when I ordered them they were 190.00 each. They will come back down after the new year I think.TAKE CARE

  • I would like to see the readings after the panels have been in the sun all day. My 1500w system was doing just over 1500w going in and out of the clouds. it sits at 1335w all day in full sun. I had to use 11 so called cheap inverters to do that.

  • @VWRabbitdiesel Hey I will try to get a better video for you soon.hows your weather is it cooling down yet.if I add 21 emphases inverters to push 3200w it would cost over 4 grand.4 grand worth of sun gs could push 10kw.I don't know which way is better yet.take care

  • I captured some numbers from this video, created a spreadsheet, and crunched some numbers for you. The math indicates that the Enphase GTIs on average capture 37% more power vs. the Sun-500s. In other words, if you replaced the SUN-500s with Enphase GTIs that you'd capture on average 37% more watts from the panels the SUN-500s are now responsible for.

  • @Fearlessthinker WOW thank you very much for the info.I hope you had fun doing it.TAKE CARE and thanks again

  • Nice set-up. I just ordered some 230w panels with Ephase inverters i'll be installing soon. I know these are designed more for 24v panels, but wondering if they might work on a couple 12v panels wired in series. I got 5 existing Kyocera 135w panels i would love bring online with my enphase (1 inverter to 2 12v panels in series) but not sure will work. love to get your opinion on that one. thanks again!

  • @michael970

What connects the Enpase inverters together are they long enough to connect to each other or do you need to buy another "special" cable thanks and nice setup I'm waiting on 10 x 200 watt panels myself and deciding on the Enpase or GTI's

  • Im a sun fan Mike, what kind of % are you getting on these? Are the even close to 85%?

  • nice video,I dont have a solar set up yet but enphase sounds like a good way to go but a little higher in price what type of panels do you have hooked up to your enphase inverters?seen some enphase m-190 s on ebay but not sure what panels to match up to them or if it makes a differance?have a 24ftx8 garage roof I working with-was told net metering was offered here but not sure if it will be needed as small as this set will be.Thanks

  • I really like your buss bars, good idea!!!

  • Thanks a ton for posting, this is awesome research for those of with the "cheap" inverters. I went with one 1200w PJ GTI and it does just fine but it gets hot even with 350 watts going into it. The general rule for the cheap inverters is that they are half of what they are actually rated. This weekend I plan on finishing most of my solar tracker and have my panels mounted on it, video coming soon! Keep posting!!!!

  • ENPHASE IS THE BEST BRO.

  • @michael970 I guess another way to look at that would be how many more panels could you buy for $4000.
