  • Soda yes ,old method. Is it similar with potash?

  • Don't they have surface cleaners there? This process looks like alot of work? Then again I live in the usa and have never heard of this method... but it works though.

  • @poosaypirate Not when you slip on your ass it isn't!

  • well;WHY DONT YOU JUST LEAVE IT IT; ITS BLOODY BEAUTIFUL!!!!

  • The technical name is sodium carbonate decahydrate and are also known as 'washing soda'. They're available in all supermarkets and many hardware stores in the UK and are about 60p for 1kg. They're a bit more difficult to find in the USA but can be obtained via MSO Distributing.

  • what the hell are soda crystals?

  • Good idea....but...decent power washers cost over £50, they can splatter everything nearby (including neighbours' cars - as I found out to my cost!). The other thing about using soda crystals is that it doesn't leave the area slippy and it seems to stop moss grwing back for a year or two!

  • Try power washing next time, takes everything off and the sidewalk will look like brand new when finished.
