  • About fan arts, some companies actually prefer applicants to draw their designs as fan art.

An example would be Blizzard entertainment. There's this guy who just kept posting fan arts and they were really good. Eventually he got discovered and accepted in the company. A big reason that he got in is not because he just drew them well, it's because he drew blizzard's designs while "fixing" them. So for people who like to draw fan arts, try to make them "better" than the company's work.

  • @thedevo01 I don't personally know him and the details about his job hunts but I guess you're right too. Anyway, I was just saying that fan art's aren't all that bad. A few more names to add who did similar things and got tons of exposure and job oppurtunities is Dave Rapoza and Dan Luvisi. I'm pretty sure lots of other people got REAL jobs because of high quality fan art and that's what's important. Cheers! :)

  • @deivcalviz Yes, but that guy didn't actually go around applying for jobs with fan-art in his portfolio. If he did, then that's probably why he was not hired until Blizzard discovered him.

I hope you can see my point.

  • fan art can be company specific because a lot of the time they do want to see your takes on their characters

  • @DoomFist94 lol... You've obviously not heard of mr jack... go to his the deviantart page of this user "mr--jack" or just google him... I already asked him about it before to verify it.. he's actually quite popular with Starcraft fans... see for youself.. lol..
