  • why wouldn't they build the ship with watertight decks? on top of e deck. just doesn't make sense.

  • @jeffbrister2004 When you do that you limit easy passenger access to different areas because you basically have all these sections divided up by steel walls. So the mentality was to keep these compartments limited to the lower decks so the passengers on the upper decks would have free movement without having to find their way over and around these huge bulkheads.

  • Now I am not sure if it is true or not, but I remember seeing a child form documentary of this. I don't remember what it is called, but it has some historian guy named Doug Deeper in it...
