  • I have this record on Paramount 20434, it's listed as by the Blue Kittens on there. I always thought it was a Harry Reser group for some reason.

  • After you mentioned the Blue Kittens, I looked twice and finally found another copy of this recording in a somewhat neglected corner of my collection. It is on Silvertone 3504, also listed as "The Blue Kittens". It's even another take, but condition is much worse than this Kalliope ...

  • Thanks, but where have you traced these data?

Rust lists the following musicians under "Perry's Orchestra":

Donald Lindley (tp)/Miff Mole (tb)/Alfie Evans or Russ Gorman (cl, as, bars)/Arthur Schutt (p)/bj/dr

Although this recording is NOT listed in Rust's 1985 edition of "Jazz Records", I think this Kalliope release belongs to the Dec '25 recording session. The trombone sounds much like Miff Mole, the clarinet reminds of Russ Gorman, and trumpet ... may well be Donald Lindley.

  • Hi! Perrys Orchestra is pseudonym for Ross Gorman Orchestra and of course this is Miff Mole.Thank You for this nice recording. Bixbix81

  • I agree with the others, what a beautiful label!

    Great recording too.

  • What a beautiful label

  • was "Perry's Orchestra" a Pseudonym of any particular dance band?

  • Hmmm....

I looked for a paramount recording of this song in Rusts 1978 edition and this was the information. I thougth it must be because of the bar. or bass sax player.

You´re right, sounds much more of an bar. than an basssax. And pretty much of Miff Mole....

So, you take the cake..... :)
