Well here we have it folks... Final Fantasy Piano VIIII Collections -- "Ending Theme." I understand that this is not everybody's "favorite" Final Fantasy Piano Arrangement... Like I have said before... large orchestrated pieces from Nobuo Uematsu are extremely difficult to arrange on the piano. The large full sound become quite lacking when transposed to the piano... which sadly loses its emotional grandiose entrances towards the listener, and I agree that "Ending Theme" does not fully have that spark and quality.
However, because there is an apparent emotional "arrangement-conflict" with these pieces, does not mean it's not technical and does not acquire dumbfounded note skill. THIS IS NOT AN EASY PIECE! And I say that... because there are practically 5 different pieces all "mashed" into one. Now, over the past few months I have been working in perfecting this piece... it has been somewhat difficult for me to harness such emotion with this piece. Because there are practically 5 different pieces, as a pianist I was forced to learn and garner 5 different styles, tempos, and story/emotional images.
Many of you should know by know... that because I have played the Final Fantasy VIII game, I am extremely dedicated in trying to capture every essence of emotion from the game itself. Well the "Ending Theme" was an easy follow up because of the Final Fantasy VIII's Game Ending! For those of you who have actually played the game can remember... finally defeating Ultimecia... and are successfully and deservingly rewarded a 30 minute epic conclusion. We remember the "loner" attitude Squall takes upon the world as he is trapped in the world of the compression of time. He tries to make sense of all his gargled past... and of course tries to "go back to that place" (The orphanage with all the grass and flowers) because he promised Rinoa that he would meet her there, if for some reason they had succumbed separation.
Well the mood starts to change finally during the credits... as the infamous "Ending Theme" is played. We surprisingly see a Full Motion Video of someone videotaping what it looks to be a School Academy party. I thought the director Yoshinori Kitase was pure genius at incorporating such a humorous yet conclusive scene into the game... panning to Selphie's giddy nature, to Quistis's serious talk with Cid and Edea, to Irvine's sexy impressionism with the girls... and to finally the most humorous scene "Zell's enraged Choking Hotdog Scene!" As the second half starts to play a typical Classical style begins... which eventually just shows the credits... The third part finally begins a loud chord Remix of FITHOS LUSEC WECOS VINOSEC... which finally beings my most favorite part of all! I most definitely am adored and infatuated with such beauty. And for those who dislike the Ending Theme Piano Arrangement... I just highly recommend that you fast-forward to part four. It is an extremely enriching even in the Piano Collection Version... [If some of you may not have noticed after Zell's hotdog incident Rinoa's dog Angelo actually dog walks towards the Balamb garden's balcony... but for some reason is never shown in the last scene!] Okay and finally I believe the most emotional/beautiful moment of Final Fantasy VIII game is the Reunion between Rinoa and Squall. I just adore the night scene with the mysterious dark ocean where the camera pans around Rinoa... where it plays that gorgeous Oboe melody. Whoever designed such an ending is pure genius... we don't know Squall is exactly next to Rinoa... as she does her most infamous pose with her finger (The Dance Scene, anyone?) we finally see Squall! The oboe melody part is subsequently repeated now by an orchestra... and what's this...? SQUALL'S ACTUALLY SMILING!!!
The "Ending Theme" for the Final Fantasy VIII OST is my Favorite of all pieces ever composed by Nobuo Uematsu to date ("Melodies of Life" comes in a close second!) . I believe Final Fantasy VIII's Ending Theme version is Uematsu's greatest creation every because it not only includes the beautiful "Eyes on me" but the movie-prolific "Ending Theme". And yes until this date... It is the best "Final Fantasy" song ever composed and still lives on in many future FF games... Enjoy!
What she get for dinner? Lol. J/k. Your an amazing pianist. Great job!
