@mkhr90 They do have dialup modems, one of them has a 26kbps dial-up modem lol
They're good for tinkering and retrogaming mostly. As in MS-DOS Win98 games. Not that I use them often LOL
But if you try Windowx Xp in machines with 512MB it works really fast, so I don't see the magical thing about Linux anywhere.
A funny thing is that people think their computers got slower and need to buy new ones when in fact is that they filled the hd with crap and their XP is corrupted. Formatting fixes it.

@isthisnickvalid There are lightweight versions of Linux Mint and Ubuntu which don't use GNOME but instead use LXDE or XFCE. For example the new lubuntu 11.04 is pretty light while the new Ubuntu is made for newer computers but still is lighter than Windows 7 and Vista and probably XP also.

try lubuntu is awesome and very very light

The population of the US is 300 million, not 300 thousand.

Well, we can put the old computers as great servers, they consume less power.
-
Can't you linuxers count? ;)

Half the population is NOT 130,000... Try 150,000,000

@isthisnickvalid nevermind I just read your other post haha Well, what are those ANCIENT PCs good for anyways? They probably don't even have a dial-up modem :S I don't think this video refers to 15 year old computers...
130,000 is not half the population of the U.S.

not a bad video other than the fact that 130,000 is horribly inaccurate. the population is over 300 million. i do support the fact that linux is great for making old computers usable again. it can add another several years to them
