  • I want to investigate adding a second switch to one of these popcorn makers so that you can turn off the heater and leave the air running to cool the beans down - instead of tipping into the bowl and stiring by hand. cant be that hard to add a switch to turn off the heating element?

  • I've not tried. I now use a bread machine and heat gun combination to roast and use a shop vac / colander in a plastic bucket for cooling. It works great.

  • Uh yea...about that....

I just mixed up the wording. I should have said, "the coffee cracking or something like first and second crack" Crack on the coffee just doesn't sound right.

  • I used to use the same method to roast coffee beans; however, I've come to the conclusion that popcorn roasters simply roast the beans TOO fast and the sugars in the beans can not develop. Roasting coffee takes around 14 minutes to SLOW roast. I'm considering buying the Gene Cafe roaster. Just bought the Giotto Rocket Evoluzione espresso machine which I love.

  • reminds me of ricky from trailer park boys. if this video was titled "trailer park roasting" I'd laugh my ass off.

  • I was roasting in a cast iron pan, but bought a kitchen gourmet air roaster like in this video and not only did it roast incredibly even, but it also roasted faster. I bought the popcorn maker at Walgreens for $10.00

  • Nice, i'll start roasting soon.

  • Good video. Fast method. Definitely will consider it.

  • Great video. Thanks for sharing this. It's a real confidence builder. I linked to it from my blog.

  • Hey Dustin, thanks for the great video. This is a huge help for folks like me on the edge of taking the plunge into home roasting. Seeing this done by video is better than the pages of written how-to's on the subject. Thanks again!
