This is an old documentary about Bulletin Board Systems (BBS) that was produced back in 1992. I don't remember where I came across this video originally, it's been many years now, but it's a truly fascinating look back at where Computers came from, and the early days before the "Internet Age" really took hold. I used to connect to several BBS systems back in the day, so this is what I call nostalgic by far. Very dated, REALLY geeky, if it's not informative, it should at least be humorous. Enjoy. (Update: Thanks to the kind comment by one of the fellows in this video, and his posting of it as well, I now know the video was produced by a Mr. Roy Janke.)

ha! I just posted this, and then I see it's already here. I had no idea, although I strongly suspect the originbal poster found it on my web site because I don't think anybody else had a public copy. Oh well... I can live without being FIRSTIES! (grin). I'm the Jeff in the film, and much of the video was shot in my store in Toronto.

Whoa! That is awesome! I've had this video for a very long time, and I can't remember where I originally saw it. I had it floating around one of my old hard drives back about 5 years ago and thought it would be a nice piece of Internet history to share. Informative, educational and a bit of nostalgia for some of us old board hounds. I don't know if you remember a BBS called MADBBS, but I was a part of that back in the day.

I like the fact that they feature the Amiga 2000 in this video, it's a classy computer.

Classy and Classic. I never had one myself, but I was a Commodore Kid back in the early 80's, and I wanted an Amiga like crazy back in the day. If I could pick one up today, in working condition, I would probably still do it, just for the fun of it.

Computers "used" to be for nerds. Yet now everyone holds a mini computer in their hand/pocket 24/7 aka the smartphone. They're more powerful than some of the BBSers machines back in the day!
BBS Forum is up to chat about the old days of BBSing.
