"Orick, CA, U.S.A." is a 10 minute look at a quirky Northern California town in Humboldt County, California--nestled in the Redwoods about an hour south of Oregon.

From the roadside chainsaw burl wood artists to the town poet Jerry...from "Meat Night" at the local pool tournament to the children's portion of the Orick Rodeo...from unsympathetic park rangers to "The Song of Orick" by Verna at the beach on 4th of July...

You will not soon forget the town of Orick!

Tourist are afraid to get out of there cars! That's BULLSHIT! That's park ranger crap. If you need help of any kind the people in Orick will be the first to help you, not attack you. Too many Burl Shops, well what are the people suppose to do for a living? The mills are all gone, the fishing is all gone. The parks are just trying to starve the people out of town, so all of Orick can be park property. NOT, while I still own a piece of Orick.

Here I am, 36 years removed from my time as the school bus driver and janitor of Orick School, and the song that I, Paul Ennis, wrote for the 8th grade graduation in 1975, 'Song of Orick' is featured in a viral video on YouTube!! Go figure that one out will ya'. I believe Verna was a very young student at Orick School in 1975 who may have been in the school chorus and that group sang the song whilst I played the piano to accompany the group in singing the song I wrote for them.
