after a ton of emails, i decided to give up some of my recording tricks. mind you this is just the tip of the iceberg, but i found that the mirror on the monitor trick was invaluable!
of course it doesn't hurt to have nice pre's, and nice mic's, . remember, starting with the cleanest best signal you can is gold! for years i used a pair of ksm 32's, and they got the job done, of course i had 2 channels of JOHN HARDING. the la 610 is an awesome pre....so versatile!
i recorded my last 3 albums at home. the last one"come on in the waters fire" was completely recorded to tape, then dumped into my daw. this was a very quick run thru, but if u have any questions, just ask. im not saying i know everything, but ive been at it for years, and do know some great tricks!

  • recording songs is like medication,,,,,now thats cool said !!! how true

  • @TheTOODIFFERENT thanks, music as a whole is medication. i know i would die without it,,,,its all i am...

  • Such a dope idea with the monitors! I'm definitely going to try this.

    Two questions:

    1. Do you have a .pdf manaul for those Tascam 308's?

    2. Are those 308's capable of recording 8 tracks simultaneously? If so, can you go tracks 1 - 8 direct into, say, a Tascam 38, or do you have to use tracks 1 - 4 and bus 5 - 8?

As you may have guessed, I just picked up a Tascam M308B and can't find a manual for this monster.

  • @justinmantell thanks, u will be surprised at how well your monitors work..

    1. yes, i have an original owners booklet. i don't think there was p.d.f back then, very informative, hit me up at gwambaworld@gmail.com for info, Ive copied it before for a few peeps.

    2. yes you can record 1-8 at one time with no busing. you can also hook them up in sinc, and record 1-14 on both decks, it takes 2 channels to sink,1 from each, and u need the sinc box. its frustrating, and i don't do it!
