Toby Dawson was born in South Korea and adopted by two American ski instructors living in Vail, Colorado. They placed their new son on skis at age four. Fifteen years later, he made the U.S. Ski Team. Dawson grew increasingly successful as a freestyle and mogul skier, and overcame numerous injuries, including a lacerated kidney, a broken fibula, numerous torn ligaments in his ankle, and a torn MCL. Despite his litany of injuries, Toby made the 2006 Olympic Ski Team. He spent 21 years training for the 21 seconds it would take to descend the treacherous mogul run in Turin, Italy. Would he medal?
