My two favorite scenes from the 1983 movie "Lianna" directed by John Sayles.

In the first scene, Lianna and Ruth go dancing, and when I first saw this scene, I was just mesmerized by it. I really like the song that's playing (it's so 80's, but I love it just the same), and the women in the club are so cute. I want to dance with the girl in the blue button-down shirt, and maybe have a drink with her afterwards! She has so much energy and reminds me of Sara Quin. The older couple are a close second. I love the clothing/music/dancing styles of the late 70's, early 80's.

The second scene shows Lianna becoming comfortable with and even enjoying her attraction to women, a depiction of something we all go through at some point in our coming out and something I experienced only last year. The gals in that scene are cute as well, especially the chick in the hat.

Enjoy the vid, I don't own Lianna or the music, this is just a clip from a decent little movie that I wanted to share.

Starring:
Linda Griffiths
Jane Hallaren
John Sayles

  • "Lianna Massey, Eats Pussy." The best line in the whole movie...haha.

  • I get such a kick out of this dancing scene and never get tired of watching it. The song the women are dancing to is great because it's like a lesbian anthem. "Women of the world, you are the only one you need." No kidding! It's like Lianna is using the dancing as her initiation into the new lesbian world around her.

  • dance scenes are a standard in l films. so are looking out the window sadly scenes, rejection reaction by friends scenes, first arguments scenes, and the ever present high pitched voiced singer doing background music.

  • @builtfa That's what I was going to say! Glad you enjoyed.

  • @builtfa Just got my own questioned answered through IMDB...It's •"Women of the World"

Performed by Jeanie French & Suzanne Boucher

  • One of my all-time favorite movies. Thanks for posting this scene. I've always wondered what the name of the song was to which they were dancing...Is it "Women of the World"? Who does it?

  • @maclasch That's too bad! Where did you get it?
