  • Great vid! Reminds me of the one for Scientist by Coldplay. But, you know, without the weaksauce accident scene.

The lyrics to this song are very powerful, but I'm still struggling with the line "Holes in the bellows and blood on the keys". I get that it's probably a metaphor, but I'm not even sure on the literal imagery referred to - do you think, for example it refers to car components, or is it a fireplace bellows and apartment keys (in which case I'm even more confused)?

  • @mackeymkay I interpreted it as "disturbed home" imagery - his memories of a happy home life (represented by a warm fireplace, a set of keys) are tainted by the recent breakup. But who knows? I had a friend who thought those lines meant the man was dying, and another who thought it meant he killed her. Ambiguity!

  • @Jasmerrin i was thinking like the bellows and keys of say, an organ, as a metaphor for dying. I love the video, at first i thought "NO, not a reverse time video" but i hung with it and i saw how the actions corresponded with the song. Great video

  • @Tahkafication Thank you! "Not a reverse time video..." are there a lot of these? I'm of course familiar with the Coldplay one (didn't see it until after I made this one and people told me to go watch it, though) and one that won some They Might Be Giants video contest. Huh... actually, maybe that is a lot. It may be a gimmick, but that doesn't mean you can't do anything interesting with it. Hopefully, that's what I did here. Or at least what I tried to do.

  • @mackeymkay bellows + keys I guess would be an accordion?

  • @wolfendale Wow. That makes sense. I'm glad I didn't realize that before I made the movie, or I probably would have felt compelled to work an accordion in there. Which would have seemed weird.

  • @wolfendale Of course! It makes so much more sense now... How did I not think of that? Thanks!

  • Very well done! This is about what I was thinking when I first heard the song.

  • @JonathanLeungMusic How do you mean?

  • Waiting for a movie with visual counterpoint! XD
