After having a melon-sized ovarian cyst removed this summer, Eva spoke to other women who have experienced ovarian cysts and to Cheung Wong, MD, the Director of Gynecologic Oncology at Fletcher Allen Health Care. Why do ovarian cysts happen? What types are there? What treatments are available? And what about ovarian cancer?

Women need to be their own advocates when it comes to their health. So if something feels wrong in your body, tell your doctor.

Great to know that not all ovarian cysts are cancerous. I'm so grateful to live in a time when gyn surgery can be done in a non-invasive way. That technology is really cool.

i had the same thing ovarian cyst im only 14 years old though it was very scary cause i felt it move and i had killer back pain no menstural cyle and many more symptoms. i had it removed 12 15 10 i was i nthe hosptial for6 days!!!!!! then they told me how big it was, it was a little bit bigger than a football and im currently still in recovery.its is not cancerous thank god.i didnt get the little holes i got a 5 in. incition to get it taken out cause they didnt kno what it was at first.

Thank you for sharing this....I have been suspecting a cyst on my left ovary for a long time as well....I had no idea the dangers involved....I am going to get myself checked out asap. Thanks again! I hope you are feeling better and your cyst did not return.
