I don't know the history of either team but Lindsey Nelson was reading from a script because it's a highlight reel. Even on today's pre-game and post-game shows the various panelists read from scripts when the highlights are being shown. Sometimes there's a mistake in the script and a panelist corrects himself by saying something like "that's not the tight-end, it's the left tackle", etc etc.
I often hear it on the FOX half-time shows due to Bradshaw handling the highlights himself.

Lindsey Nelson must have been reading a script as he misspoke twice...first the second TD is scored by #83 Phil Sheridan and the late fumble cause is #1 Tony Carey.
