The high quality flash version can be seen on my DeviantArt or Newgrounds page. It's a large file so it might take longer to load..

This is my first big flash animation. It's based heavily on a dream I had that was caused by a long day of playing NES, SNES, and Genesis. A lot of the animation is true to the dream with a few changes to keep it interesting.

In the dream I was moving through different levels from many games. In each level the music was wrong and my sprite (while fitting the bit style) didn't quite work with the game. During the dream I was abusing a cheat ability to use different weapons from pretty much any game (of the same bit type) I wanted at any time. The game itself behaved as it should, with my actions being the only aberration. So basically a retro video game mashup.

I wanted it to look as "real" as possible, as if it was actually happening in the games. Everything looks, animates, behaves and moves as close to the real thing as I could manage. Because of this it might not be as exciting and action packed as the flood of DBZ style sprite animations out there.

Thanks go out to my friends and HUGE thanks to my girlfriend for putting up with me during the creation of this soul crusher. I love you.

Dedicated to anyone who has ever loved video games.

  • 1:50 (pac man) What us the music? please tell me, I have been trying to remember the name of that game for so long T___T (many many years) [at least I think it is the game]

  • @FlameScorpian The music during the Pac-Man scene is from Super Mario World. It's the music from the ghost house levels.

  • Hey, thats pretty damn clever. This would be a wonderful idea of a series of you as the hero, possessing every video game power out there to defeat some great evil who threatens the video game world, it'd be kinda like captain nes, except more badass.

  • @DragonKoal Thanks. :) That's pretty much what I had in mind when I started it. Haven't had the time to continue though.

  • I've watched this a dozen times since I saw it on Newgrounds, it just doesn't get old! I would love to see a sequel!

  • @Nexum120 Thanks. Been trying to find the time to finish the sequel, but I've been so busy I haven't had the chance.
