@loyeti WOw...Didn't know that. I would love to learn how to cast my own wrought iron into porch decorations like the old plantation houses (like New Orleans ironwork) , but I don't know a thing about it yet. Thanks for the info.

@pancakepie2 wrought iron was made from gray cast (or pig iron) puddled in puddling furnaces till it became a big spongy bloom floating in a pool of slag, once taken out was worked (hence wrought) at a power hammer then rolled...
the material although is an iron compound is completely different from mild steel

@loyeti It looks like cold-rolled mild steel to me. Isn't wrought iron cast from iron?
