Would you ask your Doctor what her grades were in college, and expect to pay her accordingly? Would you pay a McDonalds employee based on his level of education? Firefighting isn't rocket science. (I would expect a rocket scientists salary to reflect his ability) I am a career firefighter. This is me telling you to get off your high horse. The fire service is about being a jack of all trades, not just about breaking down doors. I'm sure you fight it hard from the yard anyway.

That you are a "career" fireman adds no weight to the argument you present here..

Anybody who looks at this with an open-mind (I did when I first looked into the fire service) will come to certain conclusions about job requirements and what constitutes the best candidates.

The result is clear. if we listed applicants in order of 'genuine' suitability, and it extended to 100 thousand names, there wouldn't be any women on it. And likely none in the following 100k.

@MmeLambton 1) Meritocracy: people paid according to what they bring to the job. If 50% of the attributes are physical and 50% mental, men would generally score higher on the physical and do about the same on the mental, meaning men would typically be paid more.

2) "you've gone back 50 years". This is a misrepresentation of reality that could only be delivered by someone with no idea of history.

3) If women were passing the same exams as men, this video would never have been made.

I wouldn't advocate men being paid better than women firefighters, I would recommend they find a firefighter that'll be able to save me and my fucking family before we burn to death. This is not about where my tax money go, it's about public fucking safety. Even if you do survive, big third degree burns are one of the last things you'd like to have on your skin.

Personally I think she could have, if she'd just put some effort into it.

@DeepBlue0006 No, it's not 'easy' for clubs. And those clubs ALWAYS have a 'female-only' counterpart, unlike most clubs. Oh no, strip clubs are geared towards men! So what? How is that 'male-only'? There are 'female-oriented' strip clubs as well. As far as gyms are concerned, there are no male-ONLY gyms I've ever seen. There are female bodybuilders, ya know? However, there are plenty of 'curves' lying around. And guess what, those colleges are EXTREMELY rare and there are female counterparts too

@TheAryoBarzan87 clubs is easy, they are privately run and there is a wide range of male only ones (think of those old guys in funny hats), Oh and strip clubs are geared toward men. Gyms: New men's, and other chains that are sport oriented gyms for body building that are MENS only gyms. areas: I work in a profession that only allows men, so the entire area is men. Colleges: Morehouse College, Wabash College and many more.

Dude, you're a moron!

1) Number of times I (in 25+ years as a firefighter) have needed to "break down a door" = ZERO.

2) Number of times I've "pulled someone from a burning building" =ZERO.

3) Firefighters work as a TEAM, so there will be more than just 1 firefighter (male or female) to forceably enter the structure.

4) Lastly, we don't "break down doors" anymore; we use tools & technique, eliminating any need to do what was shown in your video.

Maybe some actual research would do you some good!
