Here (in a rare appearance) is a Jeopardy episode from around March 1985 that I found in my recent haul of Beta tapes (I approximate the date because, in a news break before this, they mention the Oscars).

Steve had a great day the previous day, winning a dollar short of $12,000. Will he bring home even more in day 2? No copyright infringement is intended.

I've left the commercials in as well.

  • I'm still wondering why no one bothered to choose the "Browns" category in round one...that would have been interesting to see...

  • It is an interesting category, for sure.

  • I can only guess this was recorded to tape from an antenna signal -- correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't judge based on quality, though. A great first-season episode. Funny to see a couple of technical glitches crop up through the game. But, hey. It was the first season. Things can only (hopefully) get better, tech-wise. :D

  • Not sure where it came from (I only inherited the tape), but you could be right. Things did indeed improve tech-wise; you never see those errors today (though it probably be edited out of the final print). Thanks for the comment!

  • Isn't funny how things on old school TV are cheesy in retrospect, LOL! I'm more interested in the commercials - WOW! Really, beans and spaghetti!? And check out the hair.

  • I forgot Regis Philbin used host on WABC

  • I hope someone has the first season finale and can post it. That one was the last of the red set (ending with Alan Leboritz winning his second game-he went on to the second season premiere).

  • Thank you for putting this up

  • In what season dfid they start clraring the board? I have kept up with this show ever since 1984. Wow

  • It sure won't be very frequent. It probably will be awhile before I consider it again.

Oh, cause I was ready to say, why are you uploading Jeopardy episodes anyway despite what happened on your main channel?

  • @gamelover1949

    Not a problem. ^^
