they wrote this song (who cares who originally wrote it) as a closing to the 20th century...in the lyrics it describes everything that the 20th century did to help shape our world as we experience it today

Keep in mind when watching this that The lyrics of this song were written in 1997 by Trent Reznor (of Nine Inch Nails fame) and later stolen by semisonic. Copyright lawsuits are still in litigation to this day.

Copyrights are only when the studio decided to place the rights on the song. They could have EASILY produced and sang the song way before 1999...

i was born in 94, but my parents used to play this song before i went to bed. When i was a baby/child i used to call betime "closing time" anyway, hearing this song makes me think of when i was a baby.
