Black and White lines on the interstate

I spotted these black and white dividers on the interstate I 70 in between Salina and Hays, Kansas, U.S.A.

A Google search reveals that these lines give enhanced contrast on very bright days with sunstrike.

It was about an hours drive from where the storm water channel is in the middle of the road. ( second part of the video )

Hmmm starting @ 0:08 is looks like you're in Wichita KS on I-135.

@contrapezist You are probably correct. I couldn't remember exactly where it was taken, somewhere in between Witchita , Salina and Hays.

The storm water channel was near Witchita

I often see the alternating black and white stripes on bridges, where the concrete road surface is too light, and would cause the white stripes to not be visible enough, especially in bright sunlight.

@vwestlife It makes good sense in bright sunlight on concrete roads to have these type of stripes.

@deskpaperclips Only saw them twice on a 5 mile stretch during my 9000 miles travel while storm chasing in the U.S.A. earlier this year.

I started noticing them about a year or so ago here in Ft. Worth, TX. I figured it was for contrast.
