Researchers at the University of Michigan found that after taking short walks, adults scored better on memory and attention tests than before the walk. But, the walk had to be in nature and not in the city.

  • Very interesting, this makes a lot of sense.

  • Relaxing ≠ Resting?

  • i dont go outside mainly cause unless im going to the shop or something theres no point in going out plus i dont like summer but thats my opions

  • I'm not from New York but even I know Central Park at night is freaking dangerous..

Oh and all those studies about a person being stimulated because of their urban environment and scoring better on a test because their brain is already active.

This is just an exercise in keeping academics off the streets...someone has to find a reason to give them money for their BS studies.

  • Wrong conclusion.

The mind was rested due to the "natural" environment.. Thuis better results

Much the same as a person who is well rested from bed rest has better results.

It stands to reason...the more tired you are the worse your results.

I don't know why a study was required to get incorrect results...waste of time and money.

  • very interesting...

  • Makes sense to me. I enjoy walking on trails or in calm areas, and find it relaxing. I wouldn't enjoy a walk around the city block as much though, or perhaps not at all if it was noisy and busy as shown here.

  • Well what if you take a stroll through the park or anywhere,my point being that i can be good to get out of the stess zones of the city into the wild, however it has nothing to do with "having the antennas up" because you need to be vigil wherever you are in the world.Someplaces less vigil

  • I don't think he meant THAT natural.
