I was invited to this festival in the Asakusa district of Tokyo by the family running the hotel I was staying at. They were very friendly and they even made me help carry the object for awhile!

Basically the whole block in the city carries this device around, and they believe by bringing the device around, it gives good luck to the entire city block for 1 year. I just happened to be here at the time of year they do it.

I showed the Denny's in the background during the festival because I thought the juxtaposition of modern society and traditional society is at a crossroads in Japan.

Also at the same time there were lots of food and other things being sold by a nearby temple. It was fun!
