I basically talk about how downloading a copy of Final Fantasy VII has caused me to think about the good ol' days. Back when RPGs weren't just movies with random battles.

I'm playing the game on my PSP and it's absolutely great. To me it feels more like you're playing a really great anime.

I have yet to play 4, and just so you know, X will probably always be the best for me. It was the one I grew up with, so I'm kind of biased.

Yes I agree! I LOVE the old ones. And yes I actually got to play Threads of fate! I loved it! And I liked reading instead now they have actors to do it for us.

I tend to like the plots in JRPG's better though. Though, I will admit, there is more actual 'role-playing' in most WRPG's... and granted, I don't play most of the crap that has come out lately from Japan. Final Fantasy XIII will be my next purchase.

I don't have a PS2 anymore so I haven't been able to play any of the Persona games, although I'm interested. I usually enjoy games from Atlas. But I just enjoy more of the interaction of WRPG's, then the very linear plots of JRPG's.

not the biggest fan of them. I don't have a 360 so I don't play those games. and Sonic: Dark Brotherhood sucked balls.

I never liked 10 and x-2's ability system. I know the story isn't as good in 9 but the gameplay in the other ffs I played besides 1 (got it for psp) I didn't like.

9 has a decent level up system and an above average but not great story. it's why it's my favorate of my RPGs. Persona comes in close but i find the system more like Visual Novels outside combat and the combat is too easy if you prepare correctly.

Dude, the Persona games. Persona man. Effin' Persona. Play them. (I love WRPGs and JRPGs equally, but I will agree that both Mass Effect and Fallout 3 are better than anything that has come out of Japan recently... with the exception of Persona 4)
