@kingnat2 Believe me, I know. But there's alot of poverty in the welfare states as well. The only difference is that we don't have as many people who live in ridiculous luxury.
@diurdi In the Inequality adjusted HDI (and let me tell you, there is lots of inequality here) It is ranked 23rd, well below its Socialized competitors.
Besides, this rankings aren't the only way to gauge a contry. Come to the US sometime man, and see how many people live in squalor.
The US is #4 on the human development index. I know the US isn't perfect, and is going downhill in regards to economic freedom and civil liberties every day - but it's still in the top.
Those with the freest economies in the world also enjoy the highest quality of life. Sweden isn't really the top in either, but it has a quite high business freedom and is #10 on the Human Development Index (not a perfect statistic but just for comparison).
@mba2ceo Perfect socialism may eliminate relative poverty - but in absolute terms of living standards, a reduction is guaranteed in contrast to the free market.
Eliminating relative poverty by making everyone poor is not something to strive for.

@kingnat2 Untrue, but it's pretty high.
