Hi, I'm Angela Jia Kim from SavorTheSuccess.com, and today I vlog about how the Wall Street Journal called me for a comment on a certain style of management at my previous retail location. They wanted to know why I felt it didn't work. The old style of management and dealing with people is very old fashioned in that they say what they are doing and are not completely transparent or honest. the new way is to be totally open, honest, and transparenet. This can be applied to your personal life as well! At Om Aroma, our estheticians wanted to offer organic waxing, organic brazillians, in our treatment room. They convinced me that it would bring extra business (did you know that waxing can be a six-figure business for just one esthetician??). So even though it was not in my line of vision, I agreed to it. However, I slowly realized that it was not profitable for Om because the organic wax and supplies are expensive. So I wanted to cut out the waxing... but I also wanted my estheticians to be happy. I went to the Om estheticians and explained the situation and asked them if they would be willing to pay for the waxing and supplies. They said that it made sense and that it was a great compromise. I could have easily - as the boss - just announced that I was going to cut out the waxing. But instead I was fully honest with the back story so it became a win/win conclusion. It makes all the difference when you are negotiating, managing, and even in your personal lives. Hope this helps and until next time, savor the success!

Angela, I agree that explaining the back-end, being honest and open-minded to creating choices as a manager/business owner works well.
There are some customers who just don't want to know the back-end...don't want to know more than they have to know. These are not my ideal, targeted audience but I have to say that I am quite challenged by these folks. I like to take the 'hard nosed' customers and see if I can turn them around.
Great vlog! Inspiring! Thank you!

Well, another great example of kizmet. My biz partner and I just came to a decision about transparency and I recently did a blog post sharing a little about ourselves with our customers that they probably didn't know. Maybe it resonate with them, maybe not. But I like the idea of just being straightforward and I have to find someone who does not appreciate that - eventually. Great vlog post, as usual, Angela.

Bravo!! For highlighting that the "human" connection/relationship matters in a big way in business today. It's the "Zappos" philosophy era - "Delivering Happiness". Thanks as always.
