The Penistone Line 1989

This is a short version of a video made in 1989 to promote travel along the Penistone Line from Sheffield to Huddersfield via Barnsley and Penistone.

Not much seems to have changed over the last 20 years. The trains are still the same.

It is one of England's most scenic railways and is supported by a Community Rail Partnership

The train that appears at 8.07 has just come out of Standege tunnel. Its probably departed Manchester victoria and bound for Huddersfield

The train that stop at Berry brow must be one of the older models back then. They're not in use anymore

Also when I see the train stopping at Berry brow, it takes me back to when I was 5 years old as that time my mother used to take me on train rides to Huddersfield town centre

Also I think the station where we see the second train is Stocksmoor

I think the viaduct where that train is passing at the start is at Denby Dale

Also great to see a train pass Berry brow station from 6.51 as my infant school was on the same street as the station. Berry brow station was new at that time

Sheffield to Penistone (13 minutes plus 10/5 mins for being made to wait to run into the Midland Station), its now Sheffield to Penisitone in a hour and a bit via Barnsley progress
