I think Mr. Shelley was a bit of a techo-wiz at the time. I have the XL1 LP and it has a track that is designed to be played through a Spectrum computer or something, and if you do you get some graphic thing on the computer screen, only thing is - anyone got a Spectrum??!

@Blowfishead According to Wikipedia, Rushent died on 4 June 2011.

The fairlight synthesiser and the Linn drum had just come out. Rushent put the techniques he'd developped from working with Shelley into the Human League's work to great effect. Unfortunately, without Rushent's innovative and creative input, most of Shelley's later work was mediocre at best.

Thanks for the upload. This record is just one more reason to love Pete Shelley, not that I needed one (huge Buzzcocks fan).

Awesome tune - i used to play this in Silouette Hull in the eighties
Love that FAT analogue synthesizer sound. This is the 'dub' version, and remember, in 1981, when this was made, there was no such thing as digital editing - all edits had to be physical cuts to the recording tape. Pete's producer was Martin Rushent, who produced 'Dare' for the Human League. Their 'Love & Dancing' LP contained [at mastering] 2,200 physical edits, all perfectly timed. Headfuck, isn't it?
