Hele On To Kaua`i - Alfred Nobriga

Theres a place I recall
Not too big, in fact its kinda small
The people there know they got it all
The simple life for me
Chorus:

Hele on to Kauai Hanalei by the bay
Wailua river valley where I used to play
The canyons of Waimea standing all alone
The magic of the garden isle
Is calling me back home

When I was young and not too smart
I left my home, looking for a brand new start
To find a place that was better still
And now I know, I know that I never will

  • I think Kaua`i was probably the most beautiful island we have been to. Waimea Canyon took my breath away. This song is universal, though. Reminds me of the cliche "Blooom where you are planted." It is really true. Thanks for watching, Layne.

  • Really good job on this one Paul. I liked the pa'ani too. Hadn't heard this in about 25 years when a couple of old friends use to play it everytime we got together. You getting good with that pint sized kika Paul ;-)

  • Kaua'i is my earliest memory! I was 4 years old when I got separated from my parents and sister walking to the boats on the Wailua River. They stopped somewhere and I kept walking toward the boats. I turned around and NO ONE WAS DEA!! Instead of crying like most children that age I just sat at the boats waiting for my family to show up...because that's where we were going anyway. A few minutes later I could hear my mom shouting my name when they found me. :-)
